This week, we got going again for the new year, and last night was our first inter::mission teach-in for the quarter. We were pleased to have Jon Sharpe with us for the evening. Jon is the Executive Director for the Center for Global Urban Leadership, and does consultations in cities all over the world. His perspective on going into cities, and finding their purposes (for both good and evil) was interesting to hear. We talked globalization and reconciliation. Jon also gave us some insight regarding the culture project we’ll be doing in June. We’re going to India to work with a man named Sunil Sardar, who is somewhat of a folk hero in India – he is working to stop the continuing effects of the caste system. Jon has worked with Sunil and shared several stories with us about the kinds of things that we’ll get to be a part of by going. It really fired us up about the trip. Good way to start the new year. inter::mission continues to be different than we expected in several ways, but as we carry on, we still love to learn and enjoy the friendships we’re developing. More info to come on Sunil Sardar and our culture project.

Steve, you’re taking to students to India to work with Sunil?!?! That’s so awesome!!! He’s one guy that after speaking with you just say to yourself…”Dang…wow” He left me pretty speechless after interacting with him.
