The task of theologians

Theologians often assume the role of legislators, and expect that their hermeneutical treaties will change the world.  The task of theologians is not to change the world but to understand it.  Theology does not create revolution; it changes people’s perceptions and makes them aware of the need for revolution.  Its function is to make people see more, feel more and rekindle the fire of resistance.
